Reports indicate that cybercrime is rapidly increasing across the world, posing serious threats to the global economy as well as institutions that rely on digital systems.
In 2025 alone, more than 7.5 million cyber attacks were reported globally, an increase from 6.3 million attacks recorded in 2024. This shows that while digital technology continues to expand opportunities, it also creates new risks related to online crime.
Experts say nearly 60% of major cyber attacks begin with stolen passwords or compromised account information. In many cases, this happens through phishing emails designed to trick users into revealing their personal or financial details.
Sectors that are frequently targeted include financial institutions, hospitals, industries, and educational institutions, mainly because of the sensitive data they store and their heavy reliance on digital infrastructure.
Cybersecurity specialists advise both organizations and individuals to strengthen their digital security by using strong passwords, avoiding suspicious emails or links, and adopting modern cybersecurity protection systems.
